USF Wins Third Straight, Share Of Conference Title

FORT WAYNE (www.incnow.tv) - Saint Francis' defense showed the way Saturday in the Cougars' 21-0 win over Taylor that earned USF a share of a conference championship..

The Cougars earned a share of the Midstates Football Association Mideast League title with St. Xavier anfd Marian after No. 5 St. Xavier upset top-ranked Mariany 23-6 later on Saturday.

The Cougars, now 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the MSFA MEL, won as Kory Stamps and Taylor Brown shared top-billing on the defensive side of the ball.

Stamps intercepted three passes including one for a 38-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Brown led USF with 19 tackles, eight solo.

Andre Turner ran for a second quarter TD following a blocked punt and quarterback Josh Miler also ran for a touchdown and 85 yards on 16 carries, but he was sacked three times and threw for just 82 yards.
