Top Ranked USF Get Win In Opening Round Of NAIA Tourney

SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Skylarr Shurn led a trio of University of Saint Francis reaching double figures in a 57-37 win over No. 8 seeded Ashford University on Wednesday afternoon.

The No. 1-ranked Lady Cougars' win in the first round of the 32-round NAIA Division II Championship set a new high for single-season wins. The 34-0 Lady Cougars will play the winner of the Tennessee Wesleyan (24-4)-Siena Heights (25-8) game on Friday at 11:15 a.m. Fort Wayne time.

Shurn finished with 17 points for USF. Brooke Ridley added 16 points and 10 rebounds securing her 10th double-double of the season. Jenelle Wilson scored 10 points.

Ashford University finishes 12-21.

USF led 26-17 at halftime and outscored the Saints 31-20 in the final 20 minutes.
