WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (21 Alive) – Sophomore guard Ronnie Johnson has decided to transfer from the Purdue men’s basketball program and has been granted his release, head coach Matt Painter announced Saturday.
“Ronnie has expressed his interest in transferring from our program and we have granted him his release,” Painter said. “We wish Ronnie the best of luck as he continues to pursue his education and basketball career.”
Johnson, a 6-0 guard from Indianapolis, averaged 10.8 points and 3.7 assists per game while appearing in all 32 contests with 31 starts. He shot 41.8 percent from the field, 30.4 percent from three-point range and 66.7 percent from the free throw line during the 2013-14 campaign.
During his two years at Purdue, Johnson appeared in all 66 games, scoring 697 points with 256 assists.
