IU will not retain Bill Lynch

November 28, 2010 Updated Nov 28, 2010 at 9:34 PM EST

(Bloomington)- IU Athletic Director, Fred Glass said in the end he felt that although he didn't want to fire Bill Lynch, he felt it needed to be done. Glass told Lynch of the decision a day after IU won the Old Oaken Bucket game 31-28 over Purdue. The win was the only Big Ten victory for the Hoosiers however. Its the third straight year IU has finished 1-7 in the Big Ten.

Glass says he will be making the decisions in the search process and that there will be no search committee. He also gave no timetable for a replacement to be named.
