WEST LAFAYETTE (www.incnow.tv) - Robert Marve threw for four touchdowns, two of them to Akeem Shavers,who scored three times, and Purdue gained bowl eligibility and possession of the Old Oaken Bucket with a 56-35 romp over Indiana Saturday.
Stephen Houston ran for 158 yards and three touchdowns for the Hoosiers, who let two leads slip away, and then fell back after rallying to tie the game at 35-35 early in the fourth quarter.
That's when Shavers scored his three touchdowns, two on passes from Marve and one on a run.
The 6-6 Boilermakers now wait to see where they will play their bowl and who against.
Indiana finishes at 4-8.
