FORT WAYNE (Indiana's NewsCenter) - North Dakota State will remain on top of the Summit League baseball standings after defeating the IPFW 8-4 Friday.

Clay Hathaway led the offense for IPFW with a 2-for-5 performance from the plate.

North Dakota State got off to a quick start by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. IPFW fought back to score a run of their own in the bottom of the inning, and the 'Dons would eventually take a 4-3 lead after scoring three runs in the third inning.

North Dakota State rebounded with two runs in the top of the fourth inning and three more in the top of the fifth. Each team ended the game with nine hits, but the Mastodons hurt their chances of winning the game by committing seven errors on the day.

The two teams meet again in a doubleheader Saturday.
