IPFW Men Take Over Summit League Lead; Women Lose At WIU (VIDEO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21 Alive) - IPFW used a steady dose of defense and a strong presence on the offensive glass to top Western Illinois 77-64 Saturday night to climb into the top spot in the Summit League standings at 6-1..

The win,- which improved IPFW to 18-6 on the year - also ties the school record for NCAA Division I victories, tying the 2010-11 squad which finished the year with an 18-12 overall record.

Luis Jacobo scored a game-high 23 points, while Steve Forbes pitched in with 18 and Joe Reed ten..

Garret Covington led Western Illinois with 18 points.

The Mastodons start a two game road trip at South Dakota State on Thursday night..

MACOMB, Ill. - Despite overcoming a nine-point second half deficit, the IPFW women to Western Illinois on the road 68-65 Saturday.

Stefanie Mauk led IPFW with a season-high 18 points, while Amanda Hyde added 14 points, and Haley Seibert 13 points.

IPFW returns home for a weekend series beginning Thursday night against league-leading South Dakota State.
