Fort Wayne, IN – The IPFW Mastodons put four players in double figures, including Eva Ivanova who recorded IPFW’s first double-double in nearly a year, topping the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts for the first time in program history, 67-64.

Ivanova’s 16-point, 12-rebound double-double was the first one for IPFW since Natalie Roberts’ 10-point, 13-rebound effort in overtime against IUPUI on February 25 last season. Chelsey Jackson scored a game-high 19 points, hitting 10-of-10 from the charity stripe, while Jordan Zuppe scored a dozen and Courtney Reed 10. Tina Moen added eight points and six rebounds with Zuppe dishing out five assists and Ivanova blocking five shots.

With the win, IPFW pulls within a game of Oral Roberts for the crucial eighth place position, which guarantees a berth into The Summit League Tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in early March.

Oral Roberts came out strong, and pulled ahead to a 9-5 lead before the ‘Dons turned a four-point deficit into a five-point lead with three-pointers in three consecutive possessions, by Moen, Zuppe, and Reed, putting IPFW ahead 14-9, taking a lead that they would not give up for the remainder of the game.

After the Golden Eagles cut the deficit to three halfway through the opening half, IPFW went on another big run, this one 8-0, to take their lead to double figures at 27-16. IPFW kept its foot on the gas pedal, leading by as many 19 following a pair of Jackson free throws with just over a minute remaining, as the team led 40-22 after 20 minutes of action.

The lead remained at double figures through the first seven and a half minutes of the second stanza, when ORU’s Mariana Camargo hit a lay-in cutting the deficit to eight at 50-42. The ‘Dons led by nine at 64-55 with 2:17 to play before ORU went on a 9-1 run to cut the lead to a single point after an Amy Pryor three-point basket with 13 seconds left.

A pair of Jackson free throws, and two missed Golden Eagle three-point attempts over the final 13 seconds secured the three-point win for IPFW.

IPFW made just 38.3 percent (23-of-60) of their shots in the game, while making 7-of-28 (25.0%) from three-point range. Oral Roberts hit 26-of-62 shots (41.9%), while making just 2-of-12 from long range (16.7%), and just 10-of-21 (47.6%) from the charity stripe.

Oral Roberts saw Janae Voelker lead a quartet of Golden Eagles in double figure scoring with 17, as Mariana Camargo scored 15 points, all in the second half, and Monah Pegorari scored a dozen while pulling down a dozen rebounds for the double-double.

The IPFW homestand continues as they play host to the Ladies of Centenary on Monday, February 9 with tip-off set for 7:00 PM at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center.
