BLUFFTON, Ind. (21Alive) - Bluffton High School running back D'Wayne Eskridge takes home this week's 21Alive Parkview Medicine Football Player of the Week.
The 5'9" sophomore had a big game Friday night at Garrett, rushing for 222 yards in the Tigers' win over the Railroaders.
"The offensive linemen just stepped up great," Eskridge says. "Every hole they brought to me, I just took it. I got to work on my cuts. I could have made some crucial cuts that made touchdowns."
Eskridge has 547 rushing yards on the season, but is also an all-purpose threat: totaling 847 yards and 6 touchdowns.
"Once we got his motor running, and the more we fed him, the more he kept going," Bluffton head coach Casey Kolkman says. "Even after getting banged up. He just got up, shook it off and kept trucking."
Bluffton's win over Garrett was the first since in more than 30 years. With how Eskridge goes, so goes the Tigers.
