FORT WAYNE (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The 2012 TiCaps arrive in Fort Wayne Sunday afternoon, ready to open the season Thursday night at Parkview Field.

Manager Jose Valentin and hitting coach Jacque Jones, each in their jobs for the first time in professional baseball after solid major league playing careers, both say they have heard good things about Fort Wayne and that they will bring a talented group north from spring training.

Valentin says the team has a high talent level, and points to catcher Austin Hedges and shortstop Jace Pearson as likely leaders.

He also raves about the starting pitching led by Frank Garces, Joe Ross, and Cody Helmer.

Six players who spent time in Fort Wayne in 2011, outfielders Donovan Tate, Corey Adamson, and Alberth Martinez, first baseman Jose Dore, and pitchers Adys Portillo and Robert Eisenbach, will begin the season here.
