Swanigan Named To USA FIBA U17 World Championship Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (21Alive) – Homestead senior Caleb Swanigan is one of 12 high school players selected for the FIBA U.S. Men’s U17 World Championship team.

Swanigan is one of three first time players on the United States team which has nine players from last year’s U16 world champions.

Joining Swanigan are:

  • Malik Newman/Jackson, Ms. (Callaway)
  • Tyus Battle/Edison, N.J. (Gill St. Bernard’s School)
  • Henry Ellenson/Rice Lake, Wis. (Rice Lake)
  • Harry Giles/Winston-Salem, N.C. (Wesleyan Christian Academy)
  • Josh Jackson/Southfield, Mich. (Consortium College Prep)
  • V.J. King/Akron, Ohio (St. Vincent-St. Mary)
  • Ivan Rabb/Oakland, Calif. (Bishop O’Dowd)
  • Devreal Ramsey/Los Angeles (Sierra Canyon)
  • Diamond Stone/Milwaukee (Dominican)
  • Jayson Tatum/St. Louis (Chaminade College Prep)
  • The team will be coached by Don Showalter out of Iowa City (Iowa) High School.

    The FIBA U17 World Championship runs Aug. 8-16 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Team USA’s first game is Aug. 8.
