EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (21 Alive) - Russell Wilson threw for two touchdowns, and the Seattle Seahawks defense and specials teams also put points on the board as the Seahawks overwhelmed the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII Sunday night.

The dies was cast early when on the first play of the game, a snap sailed by Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning as he was trying to check his offensive assignments and went into the end zone for a safety.

And it got worse from there.

The first of two interceptions thrown by Manning led to a one yard touchdown run by Marshawn Lynch, and the second was returned 69 yards for a score by linebacker Malcolm Smith, who was named Super Bowl MVP.

Percy Harvin then returned the kickoff to open the second half 87 yards to make it 29-0 Seattle and the issue was settled.

Wilson added his two touchdown passes after that, while Manning averted a shutout with a 14 yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas, who set a Super Bowl record with 13 catches.
