Fort Wayne (incnow.tv)- It was just in 2011 when James Blackmon Sr. decided to leave Bishop Luers High School after winning two state championships to return home and take the basketball head coaching job at his alma mater Marion High School. Less then a month later, he decided to return to Luers, giving family considerations as the reason for the return.
According to sources, Blackmon has now had another change of heart and will be named the new head coach at Marion High School at a school board meeting next week. Sources say that Marion has never stopped wanting Blackmon, and that after the recent resignation of head coach Billy Shepard, who went 19-25 in two seasons, it gave the school the opening it needed to pursue the former Giants star.
Blackmon will reportedly be taking son and IU recruit, James Blackmon Jr. for his senior year and his younger son Vijay with him to play at Marion.
Marion Athletic Director, Greg Peden, had no comment on the story. We left a message for Blackmon, but have not heard back at this time. 21Alive will continue to follow this story as it unfolds.
