FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Notre Dame and Maryland will square off in a Women's Final Four rematch at Memorial Coliseum.
The Fighting Irish will host the Lady Terrapins as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 3. Tipoff time is to be determined.
The game was moved to Memorial Coliseum because the Notre Dame men's basketball team will host Michigan State in a ACC/Big Ten Challenge game at Purcell Pavilion.
The game is the third time Notre Dame women will play in Fort Wayne. The Irish played at IPFW in 1979 and at Indiana Tech in 1978.
"What a great opportunity to play in front of some of our outstanding fans from not only the Fort Wayne area, but all of eastern Indiana and western Ohio," Notre Dame head coach Muffet McGraw said in a statement released by the university. "We're going to be centrally located within about a two-hour drive of not only the Notre Dame campus and all of Michiana."
The game will be part of the Notre Dame season ticket package, and single game tickets will go on sale in late September or early October, Notre Dame athletic officials say. In 2004, the men's team hosted a National Invitational Tournament second round game at the Coliseum. Notre Dame hosted a NCAA Midwest Regional in hockey twice.
"We have had a long relationship with the Fighting Irish," Memorial Coliseum general manager Randy Brown said in a statement. "And are thrilled to be hosting another event and we hope it is one of many more to come in the future."
Notre Dame beat Maryland in the national semi-final this past season. The Irish lost the national championship game to UConn. The Irish also played the Terrapins in January during the regular season.
