FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21 Alive) - New Haven moved within a win of the Northeast Hoosier Conference boys basketball title with a 52-51 win over Homestead Saturday in a battle of the conference's last two unbeatens.

New Haven big man Steve McElvene was not a factor, sitting most of the game with foul trouble, and fouling out early in the fourth quarter after scoring just two points.

But the Bulldogs' balance saved them, as well as clutch late free throw shooting.

Lowell Griggs had 16 points, Jailan Wattley 14, and Jordan Hogue 13 for the victorious Bulldogs' with Hogue's two late free throws providing the margin of victory.

Caleb Swanigan's 27 points paced Homestead.

Earlier Saturday at Homestead, freshman Karissa McLaughlin poured in 30 points as the Homestead girls finished their regular season at 20-1 with their 69-40 win over Ben Davis.

Sydney Buck added 13 points in her final home game for the Spartans.
