FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Leo High School came away Saturday with the Indiana State Hockey Association 4A State Championship after a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Carmel.
The Lions got on the board first with Blake Kem's goal.
With just more than a minute in the third period, Carmel tied it up with a Danny Anderson goal.
The game would move to 4-on-4 overtime and 3-on-3 second overtime when Tyler Grunden would send in the championship winning goal.
Leo becomes the first local team to win the regular season city championship, playoff city championship and state championship in the same season.
The Lions also won the state championship in 2012.
