FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The Fort Wayne Komets have acquired goaltender Ben Meisner in a trade with the Utah Grizzlies.
Utah acquired forward Phil Mangan in the deal.
Meisner, 23, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, has appeared in 12 games (2-8-0) with the Grizzlies, and has a 2.65 goals against average.
Last season, Meisner split time with Utah and with American International College, finishing second team All-Conference in the Atlantic Hockey League.
Magan came to Fort Wayne from Rapid City in November, and scored 3 assists in 15 games with the Komets.
Additionally, goaltender Cody Reichard has been sent back to Fort Wayne from the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild.
Because Meisner is not scheduled to arrive until Sunday, Reichard will serve as a backup goalie to Andrey Makarov for the Komets' Friday and Saturday games.
"There's no plan to keep three goalies on the roster," Komets general manager David Franke says. "By early next week, they will work it out, and be back down to two goalies."
With three goalies available for Sunday's game, one of the three will be placed on reserve.
