FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The road to Indiana's football hall of fame was a long and winding one for Russ Isaacs and Rush Bush. But the final stretch was paved in Snider High School gold as the two were inducted Tuesday night.

Isaacs and Bush are the Region 3 members of the Indiana Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame for the class of 2014. The two were enshrined during a dinner at Goeglein's reception hall.

"Ike" and Bush have been a staple of Snider football since the 1970s, coaching in some of the Panthers' biggest game, teaching some of Snider's greatest players and leaving legacies worthy of the hall of fame.

Isaacs came to Snider in 1976 as an assistant to Mike Hawley, and eventually becoming the dean of boys for the school. He would leave his administrative position to become the head football coach. In just his second season, the Panthers won the 1992 5A Football State Championship against Indianapolis Ben Davis. Ike's Snider teams would make two more state finals appearances in 2002 and 2004, coming up short both times. Isaacs would step down after the 2008 season, taking over as athletic director. Isaacs also served as the wrestling coach from 1976 to 1983.

Isaacs was inducted by former Snider principal Dennis McClurg.

Bush was part of 41 of the 49 years Snider has been opened. A standout football player and track runner at Elmhurst High School, Bush served most of his tenure as an assistant head coach.

Bush was inducted by Snider head coach Kurt Tippmann.

Both Isaacs and Bush retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools at the end of the school year. While change is never easy, it is certainly a change both men can celebrate together yet again.
