IPFW Men, Women Take Road Hoops Losses

CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex. (21 Alive) - The Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders used a step-back fade-away jumper from guard John Jordan to top the IPFW Mastodons by a 72-71 final score in the second round of the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina Islanders Basketball Tournament on Friday evening.

Joe Edwards scored a career-high 19 points for the Mastodons, while Pierre Bland and Isaiah McCray each scored 14 points in the loss. Steve Forbes poured in 12 points, with Joe Reed chipping in four.

Jordan led the winners with 28 points.

CHICAGO, Ill. - It was a tough night for the IPFW women as they fell in their second game of the Preseason WNIT to Loyola of Chicago 82-61 Friday night.

The Mastodons will close out the tournament Saturday night when they face Mount St. Mary's whom fell earlier Friday night to Idaho 81-63.

Mur Hagerman and Haley Seibert led IPFW with 11 points on the night. but Amanda Hyde was held to a season low eight points.
