FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IPFW women's basketball team lost to the Detroit Titans on Tuesday by the final score of 88-58. Amanda Hyde led the team in scoring with 19 points, but Shareta Brown guided Detroit to victory behind a 34 point, nine rebound performance at the Gates Sports Center.

IPFW faced the top defensive team in the country on Sunday afternoon with a road game at Michigan State and they were forced to follow that contest by competing with the nation's top scorer in Shareta Brown. Brown shot 9-of-15 from the floor and knocked down 15-of-20 from the charity stripe to net a game-high 34 points for the Titans. The sophomore forward added nine rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 30 minutes of action.

The Mastodons got off to a fast start as they led 20-11 with 13:24 on the game clock. Haley Seibert was locked in from 3-point range and a pair of free throws from Amanda Hyde cushioned the lead. The momentum drastically changed minutes later as the Titans came back to tie the game at 20-20 after a free throw from Brown. Detroit outscored IPFW 23-8 in the final eight minutes of the first half to open up a 43-28 lead at the break.

The second half was much like the first as Detroit outscored IPFW 45-30. The Titans used Brown to dominate inside as they won the points in the paint battle 30-8. Detroit also capitalized on IPFW turnovers as they scored 22 points off miscues compared to just nine for IPFW.

The 'Dons shot 37 percent from the floor compared to 60 percent from Detroit. One positive note that IPFW can focus on moving forward is their 3-point shooting. The Mastodons hit 50 percent of their shots from distance against UDM knocking down eight of 16 attempts.

Haley Seibert ended the game 4-of-6 from 3-point range to help her net 15 points. She added four rebounds and four assists at the point guard position. Hyde shot 6-of-17 from the floor, but she hit 7-of-8 from the line to score her 19 points. Hyde also set a new career-high on Tuesday by dishing out seven assists.

Joining Brown as impact players on the Detroit roster was the duo of Yar Shayok and Demeisha Fambro. Shayok grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with 14 points. Fambro drilled four 3-point field goals against IPFW as she ended the game with 15 points and two assists.

IPFW has one game remaining on the schedule before the start of league play on Dec. 28. The 'Dons will host Rochester College on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. The next home game at IPFW will be against conference foe IUPUI as the Jaguars visit the Gates Sports Center at 7 p.m. on Dec. 28.
