Colts Take Florida State DE Werner With First Round Pick

INDIANAPOLIS (www.incnow.tv) - The Colts says they will use Florida State defensive end Broern Werner as an outside linebacker after takin him 24th overall in Thursday night's first round of the NFL Draft.

Werner, the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, had 13 sacks and eight batted passes, and several tackles for loss this past season.

Coach Chuck Pagano says Werner will be the new compliment to RobertMathis in the Colt's linebacking corps.

Werner told reporters in a conference call Thursday night the Colts had showed a lot of interest in him, and that both his agent and college coach called the pick.

The native of Germany did not start playing tackle football until he was 14.
