INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Colts on Monday downgraded Peyton Manning's status to doubtful for Sunday's season opener at Houston, and said he would not practice at all this week.

The Colts expressed concern that Manning's rehabilitation from neck surgery has slowed, and now back pain has also surfaced for the All Pro quarterback.

The Colts' medical team has begun diagnostic testing of Manning, and specialists who have been following his case since its outset are also being consulted.

The Colts also announced Monday that the hiring of Jim Tressel as a game day consultant will be delayed six weeks, the length of time present and former Ohio State football players have been suspended by the NCAA for the school's violations connected to selling memorabilia.
