NEW YORK, NY (21Alive) -- NBA commissioner Adam Silver has handed down Clippers Owner Donald Sterling's punishment, and it's a lifetime ban from the NBA.

The announcement came during a press conference today at 2 p.m. where Silver also announced that Sterling would be fined the maximum amount of $2.5 Million. The lifetime ban includes any NBA game, practice, or official event. Sterling will also not be able to step foot in a Clipper's office or facility, and will not be able to participate in any business decisions regarding the team.

“The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are deeply offensive and harmful. That they came from an NBA owner only heightens the damage and my personal outrage....I'm hoping that the actions that we took today will satisfy our players," Said Silver.
