WARSAW, Ind. (21 Alive) - Canterbury overcame deficits in both halves Saturday and advanced to the 2A girls basketball state final with a 79-65 win over Tipton.
The Lady Cavs fell behind in the first quarter before rallying to lead by one after the first eight minutes, but then trailed by six at the half and by ten in the third quarter before a big 15-0 run turned the table, including a 24-10 margin in the final quarter.
Kindell Fincher and Katherine Smith each hung up a double-double, with the senior Fincher scoring 20 points and grabbing ten rebounds, and the junior Smith notching 18 points and twelve boards.
Darby Maggard chipped in 19 with eight assists, and Mason VanHouten also reached double figures with eleven points.
The win sends third ranked Canterbury to their first 2A state final next Saturday at about 12:45 in Terre Haute against 26-1 top ranked Heritage Christian.
