FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Our first boys basketball player of the week for this season got rolling with a big night last Saturday, North Side Junior Andy Bachman.

After an offseason of working on his shooting and getting stronger, Andy showed the effects of both in the Redskins opener against Elkhart Memorial.

Andy clicked for 20 points and eleven rebounds that night, and he hit for 13 more points to lead the Skins win at Blackhawk in this action Tuesday night.

This is a guy for whom basketball is a very big thing.

Andy is a low key guy who takes to coaching and has adjusted well to new coach Shabaz Khaliq, who knows he has a multidimensional player there.

Andy may have to shoulder more of the rebounding now with the loss of big man Antonio Wilson for the next month or so with an ankle injury.
