BLUFFTON, Ind. (21Alive) - Bluffton High School has hired Columbia City High School's Randy Hudgins as the next football coach.
The hiring of Hudgins was approved Monday night at the Bluffton-Harrison MSD board meeting.
Hudgins tells 21Alive that he and his wife are looking to start a family, and are impressed with Bluffton-Harrison school district.
Hudgins was the head coach at Columbia City for five seasons, going 28-27 and winning a share of the 2010 Northeast Hoosier Conference Championship.
He says the move is bittersweet due to both the excitement of coming to Bluffton while the sadness--and thankfulness-of leaving Columbia City.
Hudgins replaces Casey Kolkman, who resigned in January to spend more time with family. Hudgins says the Tiger program will build off the foundation started by Kolkman.
Hudgins will also teach physical education and strength & conditioning at Bluffton; and says he looks forward to not only working year-round with football players but many of the Bluffton student-athletes
