Blackmon Leaves Luers For Marion

UNDATED (Indiana's NewsCenter) - James Blackmon was approved Wednesday night as the new boys basketball coach at Marion High School by the Marion school board.

Blackmon says it was tough earlier in the day to inform Bishop Luers officials that he was stepping down to take the job at the school where he holds the career scoring record, but uplifiting to see the support at the Marion school board meeting later in the evening.

Blackmon leaves Luers with a record of 117-47 in seven seasons with two 2A state titles. and he thanked the people their for the opportunity to be a head coach.

Blackmon;s talented son, James Jr., will join his father at Marion after averaging 21 points a game as a freshman at Luers this past season.
