9th Inning South Bend Rally Puts TinCaps Against Playoff Wall

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (21 Alive - The South Bend Silver Hawks rallied for two runs after two were out in the ninth and topped the TinCaps 7-5 Saturday night in the opener of their best of three Midwest League Eastern Division Final playoff series

Socrates Brito had the big two run hit off Chris Nunn to break a 5-5 tie after the TinCaps had rallied from a 5-1 deficit.

Alberth Martinez had two hits and two RBIs, while Tyler Stubblefield clubbed a solo homer for Fort Wayne.

Game 2 of the series is Sunday at 5pm in South Bend, and the TinCaps must win two there now to extend their season.

The franchise also set the single-season Parkview Field attendance record on Saturday. Nearly 2,500 fans filed into the ballpark for Fort Wayne's playoff game with South Bend, pushing the season attendance to 410,459. The previous record was 408,044 set last year.
