FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The Snider High School football team used the offseason not only to reflect on what it did, but where it wants to be.
A 36-7 Class 5A regional loss to Westfield is motivation for a senior-laden Panther team that finished 9-3 a year ago.
This year, Snider's 33 seniors are spread out on both sides of the line of scrimmage. An experienced offensive line will protect returning quarterback Colton Painter and block for running back Neandre Billingsley.
The defense has leadership from safety Jesse Bates and linebacker Alex Reese.
Snider is largely considered a preseason front-runner for the Summit Athletic Conference championship; but head coach Kurt Tippmann says even with experience in leadership, the Panthers must continue to buy into coaching, training and teamwork.
Snider hosts Bishop Luers on Friday at Spuller Stadium in 21Alive's Signature Match-Up. Tommy Schoegler and the 21Alive Tailgate Party will be at Spuller during the 6 p.m. newscast.
