FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The North Side High School football team is proud of their accomplishments a year ago: ultimately winning an Summit Athletic Conference Championship.

But that was last year.

Enter a new North Side season. The departure of quarterback Mike LoVett III is a curve ball for the Redskins. Arian Nieves and Logan Capps now take snaps under center.

Offensively, the Redskins will develop their receiving corps and running backs with many new faces becoming starters. The offensive line returns four starters which should get the offense going.

On defense, North Side will rely on toughness and hopes of striving to be better than previous Redskins teams.

The Summit Athletic Conference is challenging, and winning the Victory Bell is a sign of that. As a team, North Side has embraced defending their title this year.

North Side opens their season Friday at home against Concordia Lutheran.
