NEW HAVEN, Ind. (21Alive) - The New Haven High School football team enters the 2014 season after the best season in school history.
The Bulldogs finished 11-2 with both an Northeast Hoosier Conference Championship and a 4A sectional championship.
New Haven returns Vance Shearer at quarterback for a third season, and will be lead an offense that head coach Jim Rowland calls "prolific." Shearer threw for 23 touchdowns and more than 2,000 yards.
While playmakers Jordan Hogue and Ariest Vasquez have graduated, the Dawgs still have a lot of talent on the roster. Hayden Graham becomes the starting running back. Offensive linemen Jakavious Hampton and Zack Watson will block for Graham.
The Dawgs rely on guys like Graham, Travis Crowe and Adam Hoffer to play both ways, as new players look to step up.
The Bulldogs open their season Aug. 22 at Heritage.
