FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The Homestead High School football team looks to rebound from a disappointing season a year ago.
The Spartans 5-5 mark was the first time since 2005 Homestead had lost more than two games in a season.,
The adversity of a .500 season provided opportunity for young guys. That opportunity now turns into experience.
The bright spots for Homestead start with quarterback Logan Ormsby. He threw for more than 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. He added another 500 yards and 6 touchdowns rushing.
Ormsby should rack up big numbers again from a receiving corps of Ben Skowronek, John Lark, Austin Krider and Carlos Sanchez. Combined, the four receivers combined for 16 touchdowns.
Chase Mathis and Jeffrey Watson are the Spartans' running backs; and the offensive line is a veteran group.
The defense is led by safety Gunner Goeble, linebackers Adam Newport, Travis Thather and Landon Darnell.
Homestead will move to the Summit Athletic Conference for football and basketball next year. The Spartans hope to leave the Northeast Hoosier Conference with yet another league title this year.
