FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The Bishop Dwenger High School football team returns for the 2014 season played one point short of a 4A state championship a year ago.
Now in season No. 13, head coach Chris Svarczkopf knows that while some personnel may change, expectations remain high for the Saints again this year.
Cody Miller is once again the starting quarterback, replacing Mike Fiacable who graduated. Miller was the Dwenger quarterback two years ago when Fiacable went down with injury.
Miller says he feels safe between a strong offensive line that is another year older.
The defense has three returning linebackers that look to clog the middle, stop the run and force opposing offenses into potential turnovers.
The Summit Athletic Conference schedule is a long one for each team. Dwenger understands that, and strives to be focused on each game ahead of them this year.
The Saints open the season Friday against South Side at home.
