NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (21Alive) - Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was formally charged Friday in Hamilton County court on drunk driving and drug-related charges stemming from a March arrest.

Irsay, 54, is charged with one county of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and one count of operating a vehicle with a Schedule I or II controlled substance. Both counts are Class C misdemeanors.

Court documents show Irsay was pulled over by a Carmel, Ind., police officer at 11:41 p.m. on Mar. 16 for failure to signal.

"Mr. Irsay came to a complete stop on 131st street for no apparent reason," the officer wrote in a report.

The officer reports Irsay's speech was slow and slurred, his eyes were red and glassy and he staggered from vehicle. Irsay failed field sobriety tests and refused a blood-alcohol test, court documents say.

Blood tests at Hamilton County Jail found Irsay had hydrocodone and oxycodone, according to court documents.

"We want to thank the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office for its professionalism in its investigation regarding Mr. Irsay," Irsay's attorneys said in a statement released Friday through the Indianapolis Colts. "And for devoting the necessary care and attention to determine the facts in this matter did not warrant the filing of felony charges relative to Mr. Irsay's prescription medications."

Irsay's initial hearing is June 19 at 1:15 p.m, but that appearance could be waived, the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office says. Irsay was released on bond from Hamilton County Jail on Mar. 17.
