Komets Add 2 Goaltenders

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The Fort Wayne Komets signed two college goalies to help their depth in the crease.

Matt Grogan, 25, of Gilbert, Ariz., signs with the K's from the University of Connecticut and Kevin Murdock comes from Lake Superior State University. Grogan was the 2013 NCAA (AHA) Goaltender of the Year, posting a 1.93 goals agaisnst average and .937 save percentage. For his career, he has a 2.47 GAA and .923 save percentage. He also skated two seasons of juniors with Bismark of the NAHL from 2007 to 2009.

Murdock, 23, of Bradenton, Fla., played three seasons of college hockey at Lake Superior State with a career 2.94 GAA. Murdock also played two seasons of juniors with Lincoln of the USHL.

As a result of the signings, the Komets released emergency backup goaltender Larkin Saalfrank.

Also, forward Kenton Miller and defenseman Jace Coyle were placed on reserve and winger Kaleigh Schrock and forward Chris Auger were activated from reserve.
