SOUTH BEND, Ind. (21Alive) - Notre Dame defensive lineman Tony Springmann will miss the entire 2013 season with a knee injury.

Springmann, a Bishop Dwenger High School graduate, injured his right knee last week, and was seen with a brace at the Fightin' Irish practice Saturday.

Head coach Brian Kelly said at Notre Dame media day Thursday that an MRI showed Springmann has both a torn ligament and dislocation of the knee.

"We think he'll make a full recovery," Kelly says. "Really disappointed for Tony. He had made some great strides."

The damage will require surgery, Kelly says.
