FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The annual conference training on cultural competence took place Friday at Parkview's Corporate Offices.
Leaders with "Crime Victim Care of Allen County" held a conference Friday. To help educate police officers, court workers, and health care workers about cultural sensitivity.
They believe helping educate people about different cultures will in-turn help the community.
Director of Crime Victim Care Saneta Maiko, Ph. D. says, “A lot of people have come from Burma, Africa, and other countries because they like to be here and because they like this environment. We have to equip agencies to know the different cultures, different beliefs, and different traditions.”
Leaders also say it's just as important to train different cultures about the "American" culture.
