AUBURN, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A time capsule sitting in the stone wall of the DeKalb County Courthouse for 100 years was opened Wednesday evening.
Wednesday marked the centennial birthday of the building. Inside the capsule they found an old Journal Gazette, dated July 27th, 1911, several coins, a key to the old 1863 courthouse, business cards and an American flag signed by 10 year old Grace Gulick.
Gregg Williamson Manager of the Willennar Geneology Center says, "The courthouse. It's a magnificent structure. Even in that day, people knew that there was something special about it. The Governor of the state of Indiana, Thomas Marshall who tried to be elected as President of the United States came and gave one of the addresses that day."
A new time capsule was placed inside the walls.
