FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – It's summertime and that means it's time to fire up the grill for cookouts.

The Three Rivers Eggfest took place at Connely's Do It Best Hardware on Dupont Road Saturday.

It’s an event where people learned grilling techniques for cooking on their own "big green egg".

The aptly named grill, which is ceramic, gets its name from its shape and uses charcoal to slow cook meals. While there, "eggheads" were treated to live music, prizes and food.

“The egg is this big green egg, it's a grill. It's a ceramic technology grill. It's great for slow cooking, it's got a huge following and everybody loves how it grills,” said Lauren Mathews, the communications manager at Do It Best.

Tickets were only $10, and all proceeds are going to "Blessings in a Backpack".
