FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -. The American Cancer Society's annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk was held Saturday at Headwaters Park.
Thousands of people turned out to help in the fight against breast cancer. The goal of the walk is to raise money and awareness of the disease.
More than 300 of these walks are held across the nation every year raising millions to fund research that focuses on finding a cure. But it's also about honoring those who are faced with this difficult battle.
"Well the main goal of today is to celebrate birthdays and celebrate survivors and everything that they've been through. And hear their stories and inspire others that are going through the same thing right now. We have so many teams, teams of just a few people to corporate teams of over 100. So everybody that gets involved is always excited about it. We just love to see everybody come together for this cause," said Sean Hartzell, Lead Stride Staff.
21Alive is a proud sponsor of the event, and our own Linda Jackson was the emcee for the Saturday festivities.
