FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – People of many different faiths came together in the name of prayer for peace in Fort Wayne.
In an effort to address issues of violence in the city, Mayor Tom Henry initiated the event "Prayers for the City - a Celebration of One Community, Many Faiths."
Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are just a few of the many religious groups that gathered together.
The event is billed as a way to better unite the community in this time of need, and to facilitate more appreciation of diversity.
"As we come together as a community, we along with Mayor Henry believe that together...together we are stronger than we are alone,” said IPFW Religious Studies Professor Dr. Michael Spath.
Spath says he hopes that anyone who couldn't make it to today's event will offer a prayer in their own way for the good of the city.
