ELKHART, Ind. (21Alive) -- Police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old Granger girl, an incident that the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department is calling suspicious.

Elkhart deputies were called to the home where the girl was living on County Road 1 in Granger after 11 p.m. Saturday.

Neighbors say the girl was living with a family that she babysat for, but it's unclear if she was related to them. Neighbors also told deputies that the family had lived there for only a month or so. Authorities say the teen was found dead in a bedroom in that home.

Deputies say a person of interest was arrested on unrelated charges and is still in custody Sunday night.
