FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - A man police say was drunk ran his car into the steel Helmholtz sculpture in Freimann Square early Sunday morning.

According to the Journal Gazette 23-year-old Colton Adamonis is facing several charges. Fort Wayne Police say the man's blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit.

The sculpture has been there since 1983. It belongs to the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.

It was damaged from the accident but officials with the museum say it is insured, and the artist is still living. They're hoping he will assist in the repairs.

The estimated value of the piece is between $400,000 and $600,000.
