FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – The IPFW Mastodons put away their blue and donned pink instead to support the Vera Bradley Foundation.
Saturday marked the 7th annual "Pink Out" honoring breast cancer survivors.
The Pink Out began with a luncheon in the International Ballroom which was free of charge for all cancer survivors.
All proceeds from the luncheon and $1 for every ticket sold for Saturday afternoon's game against North Dakota State went to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.
“This is a great way for these survivors to feel like they haven't just been battling this for themselves, but they've been battling this for other people,” said Catherine Hill, Executive Director of the Vera Bradley Foundation.
“When you see this number of survivors, if you're someone who's just been diagnosed, how inspirational to look out and see the number of people who have been through the battle and who are now moving on to healthy happy lives so that's what this gathering is about today.”
Survivors were also honored at an on-court ceremony during halftime of the basketball game.
