MARION, Ind. (21Alive) -- The Marion Police Department is investigating a homicide after a woman was found in her bedroom with a gunshot wound to her head.

The victim has been identified as Shelly L. Hudson, 46, of Marion.

According to the Marion County Police Department, a 911 hang up call resulted to officers being dispatched to 816 South McClure Street. However, officers were not able to get anyone to respond. A few minutes later, another 911 call came in indicating that the caller's brother had just dropped off a child and told him a woman had been shot at 816 McClure.

Police then returned to the residence and made entry, where they found the victim in her bedroom. A 6-year-old girl was also found unharmed sleeping in another room.

Police have arrested 39-year-old Christopher Rennaker on murder charges. Rennaker is the brother of the 911 caller who alerted police to the woman being shot in the home.
