FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – How about sinking your teeth into a little something good like some pork and a charity fundraiser?

Local businesses from the North Pointe Plaza, near the intersection of DuPont and Lima Roads, partnered together to host a customer appreciation event with music, food, and fun, all capped off with a hog roast Saturday afternoon.

All donations and proceeds will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana.

Organizers say they wanted to show their appreciation toward customers as well as benefit a great organization at the same time.

“It's because of businesses like these that come together and support organizations like this that help us benefit more children in the organization. Mentoring a child, being a positive role model to a child, there's nothing more rewarding than seeing the smile on their faces and actually helping them succeed,” said Deb-Anne Smith with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has provided children facing adversity with strong, professionally supported one-on-one relationships in communities across the country.
