NEW HAVEN, Indiana (Indiana's NewsCenter)--
Things are changing quickly in New Haven Indiana. The town is sprucing up, cleaning up, and despite a slow economy….opening up. Broadway Street alone, the main drag through downtown, has seen several new businesses open in just the last few months, from a hi-tek computer supply store to a great little eatery.

The newest hot spot in New Haven is this, the Broadway Deli. Renee Moore is the owner. She was laid off from her job two years ago and just got tired of waiting to be hired.

“Something I always wanted to do so I just thought it was time to try it,” she says.

Renee’s dream was to offer healthy foods to the health conscious, something folks in towns like new haven are increasingly demanding.

“I wanted something fresh, unprocessed,” she says. “I don’t have fryers or grilles here everything’s fresh food. We have fresh baked goods I have a baker who does all my breads and all my bakery products.”

The place is a hit with folks like Jane Patton who on this day brought her whole family in to eat.

“We need more places like this you know,” she says, “that has more health conscious foods you know, and family friendly.”

More and more ‘family friendly’ is becoming a civic mantra in new haven. Witness the huge investment in Jury Pool, a multi-million dollar vote of confidence in the town’s future.

The facility and the investment in it are a clear sign that people are what matter in New Have,n Indiana, and that quality of life isn’t some glitzy catch phrase…it’s a way of life.
