FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - Kelley Chevrolet is moving to a brand new location this week. Since the 1980s they've been located on State Blvd., just west of Clinton Street. Their new location is just off I-69 at the Lima Road exit. But company leaders promise their old building won't sit vacant.

Kelley Automotive will be moving another division of the company, Midwest Auto Parts, into the State Blvd. building. That location will also house their body shop, and they will have around 50 employees working there.

As for the used car lot, on the north side of State Blvd., that property was being leased by Kelley Chevrolet. The president of Kelley Chevrolet, Tom Kelley, says it may remain a used car lot for another business, or it might go to Northside High School to be used for parking. But he says that's still in the works.

Kelley assures the community they will still invest in, and utilize their State Blvd. building.

"We're going to spend, probably upwards of $100,000 remodeling the space, and getting ready for the new business that we're moving in there. So it's going to look nice. It's going to be a great neighbor. It's going to be a nice anchor in the Northside neighborhood," said Tom Kelley, President, Kelley Automotive.

Fort Wayne is unique, in the fact that the interstate doesn't take drivers through the city. Kelley says having the dealership so close to I-69 will showcase the investments companies like Kelley Automotive put into the community.

"I mean we have close to $10 million invested into this facility. We spared no expense. So I think it does put forth a really good image of Fort Wayne, that people in Fort Wayne are willing to step up and match anybody else in the State of Indiana with their investments and their pride in the community," said Tom Kelley, President, Kelley Automotive.

Saturday the new dealership will be open for business. That's when their sales department opens. On Monday the service department at the new location opens for customers.

Kelley says 95 percent of customers will use the new location now, but those with heavy duty trucks or RVs will still use the State Blvd. location.
