INDIANA (21Alive) – Ivy Tech Community College will debut its new academic model for 2014.

The new academic model is an automated system that will help to advise students what classes they'll need to take each semester.

The model will address the shortage of advisers to help students graduate and transfer to four-year colleges.

Ivy Tech officials say the idea is eliminate a student's ability to enroll as "undecided,” and require them to pick a "meta-major".

Ivy Tech's president says the academic model will be implemented next fall.
