Fort Wayne, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - As new details continue to emerge an answer to why the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut happened remains unanswered.

A local psychologist says it's natural for humans to want to search for answers but says sometimes there just isn't an explanation.

"It's human nature to want to explain it, and we're trying to explain the unexplainable," said Dr. Jeannie Diclementi, Assoc. Professor of Psychology, IPFW.

Dr. Jeannie Diclementi is the associate professor of psychology at IPFW and in 1999 was a crisis counselor at Columbine High School. She says we can try to explain why, but she feels we never will truly know the answer as to what caused 20-year-old Adam Lanza to turn a Connecticut elementary school into a slaughter house.

"We can make some guesses and say he was mentally ill," said Diclementi.

How he lived his life is something Diclementi says people will look at to seek answers because that's what we, as humans, have done in the past.

"He was influenced by video games, you know, he was bullied when he was at that school. I mean you can just imagine all the different explanations people are going to try to come up with, it's human nature to try to understand it because if we can put an explanation on what happened we can distance ourselves from it," said Diclementi.

Although we will learn more about Adam Lanza, as police continue their investigation, knowing why he chose to murder 20 children and 6 adults inside Sandy Hook Elementary school in a quaint New England town Friday may be something we simply never completely understand.
